Down to KB one more time, last time for sometime

Date and Day : 21/02/09, Sunday

So YAHHHH...today is the last day we're going down to KB to meet our buddy Tiong before we part to further our studies (except myself).

Let's review what we have done this fine day.

How could one not stop by this famous kway teow place at sg. liang for a meal or a for-fun snack.

We ordered Nasi Lemak. It's not bad.

We arrived KB around 10:30am. Tiong brought us to Soi Heng in Seria.
Supposedly it's famous. Let's just hope Soi Heng's surname is not Sia.

Soya bean. Should've asked without sugar.
Most Bruneians are used to the REALLY SWEET DRINKS here.

Some beancurd with eggplant thingy. Tiong ordered this. It's one of their trademark he says.

Kway Teow. It's alright.

Slippery Steamed Fish, that's what Tiong said in direct chinese translation.
It's pretty nice.

We stayed at Soi Heng for about 1.5hour and convincing Shahrin to get a gf and we tried our best to recommend the best set of girls for him, but he rejected all of them. Shahrin is very picky and selective I see. lols.
Or maybe he likes men?

Tiong drove us back to KB and we ate at Jolene Restaurant which is owned by Tiong's auntie.

Find the panda, if any.

We had sea cucumber soup.

Fried Chicken but beneath the skin is seafood paste mixed with the chicken. Tastes like fish cake somewhat. Something unique for a change.

Steamed Pork Trotters.

Nippled Japanese Beancurd. lols. Jk.
It's Japanese beancurd topped with prawn ball.

Guess who loved the pork ?

The Crew (L-R) : Tiongster, Me, Shahrin
Not In Picture : Frans

Gotta thank Tiong my main man for today it was unexpected he treated us at Soi Heng and his aunt's restaurant. Thanks so much buddy !
See ya soon in perth !
Had a fun day today =))

CNY day 7

Yah so....it was a very busy Chinese New Year this year.

Went to visit lots of houses since day 1. I feel fat. I can feel my titties.

Forget about pictures from day 1 to day 6. Too lazy to take pictures with my crappy camera and too lazy to upload them with the crappy internet.

So today is the 7th day of Chinese New Year, something to do with the Yee Sang.

Went to Vanda Restaurant to have our dinner. I was wondering why for YEARS in a row we keep going to this place. My mom said it's because they have lion dance performance in this restaurant. Wth =.=

Entrance display at Vanda Restaurant, orchid hotel

Yee Sang before they mix it up and toss it up high.

The higher the toss, the better the luck they say.
Whatever I say.
The more of them in my belly, the better luck for me I say.

Sharkfin's soup. Yummy

Roasted Chicken. Perfectly roasted and therefore it's not dry.

Sea Cucumber and mushroom.

Fried rice with diced duck.

Sweet and sour prawns.
I was a bit slow when taking this picture. Some people took half of it really fast.

Steamed fish with soya sauce. Pretty good.

Red Bean with ice cream for desert.
Damn sweet.
Fucking Ham Lan.

So during our 2nd dish onwards, the lion dance troupe came up and performed round the tables and restaurant.

ROAR !

One of the lions with my greatgrandmother.

Another lion with my uncle and auntie.

There are a total of four lions.
Supposedly in chinese new year, the chinese believe the lion dance would frighten off evil spirits.
I may believe in that but I BELIEVE your wallet would feel lighter too.

The lion dance troupe playing the drums and cymbals and whatnot.

So cute !

Then the lion dance troupe went to the ground floor of the hotel to perform the usual lion dance stunt.

TALL !

Good Food.

A day in KB

Date and Day : 07/02/09, Sunday

Today Shahrin, Frans and I went to KB to meet up with Yun and Tiong, our perthie friends.
KB or Kuala Belait is a district which is about 110km from my place.

Generally, it's a very quiet place and extra peaceful. But it's really fun to drive down there (or in my case, to sit in Shahrin's car) to meet up friends and have a little chat.

We departed from my place around 10:00am.

Had a little head start. Therefore, 89km =))

We were at Sg. Liang and got a bit distracted coz we just had to stop by this famous kway teow place for well, their kway teow.

Fried Kway Teow with sunny side up egg. And ahh.....coffee.

We arrived at KB town around 11:30am. Tiong had something to do earlier on in the day, so we met up with Yun first. Clear blue sky. Hot Hot Hot Hot ! Sweat Sweat Sweat Sweat !

Yun came a bit late so we walked around KB town for a bit. Tiong and him drove us around KB. Very nice of them.

Went to had lunch at the famous KB Rojak hawker's Lee Loi Fatt. Well, I prefer the rojak at Maju fast food located at Jaya hypermart foodcourt. You'll be the judge. =p

Laksa and Rojak.

We had ABCs too. ABC = Ais Batu Campur. Mine has no gula melaka that's why the crushed ice doesn't have a shit stain on it.

Had lunch with (initially Yun's friends) Emily and Chuan Ching, along with Shahrin, Frans, Yun and myself. Emily is the lady with the peace sign.

Dum Dee Dum !
JUST JOKING !

Me and the lovely Frans dearest !

Can you see the tiny nodding donkeys ?

Went over to OGDC, my first time there. It's a nice and fun experience.
Sadly, some of the exhibition items are closed for maintenance at the moment.

lalala. There are no stairs actually.
It's just a supposedly 3D art design.
The posers failed to make it look 3D.

One of the exhibition items.
Reminds me deuce bigalow somehow...
The "PUMP"

Cool 3D Diamond display.
Here's the truth : There's no diamond to begin with. It's just a hologram.

I got beheaded and reincarnated 10mins after.

So many fishes and tortoises.

I think that's a tortoise.

First time I've seen a "reverse parking" sign.

Can you see the mattress at the top floor? Reminds me of the movie The Hangover.

Went to Seria which is about 10mins drive before KB to have tea at Universal cafe. It's a really old restaurant, love em !

Looks so old ! I love it !

I had coffee and Teh C.

2 guys, many cups.

We ordered 4 sets of roti kahwin and we gobbled them really fast. It's good.
Really fast till the only picture I could take was the last slice, before shahrin ate it.

French toast with cheese (I think that's what Yun said).
Love this stuff too !!!!

Classic.

Then around 4:30pm, we went to KB town again to meet up with Tiong at marilyn cake house.

The Shahrin and Tiongness.

Yun had to go back first, so Tiong brought us around to some dock nearby. lols.

At the roundabout.

The dock. Stayed here for a bit. Enjoyed the breeze.

And a bit more...

Until it became dark and cloudy...

We had dinner at KB Fratini's.

I had the Fettucini Carbonara. It's alright. Far in comparison to the pasta in Ciao Italia, Perth.

Frans dish. Can't recall how to spell it =/

Shahrin's raviolli ? I wasn't paying attention. FAIL !

Then Yun came back to join us for a little chat at Fratini's before we went back. We left KB around 8pm. Reached back home near 10pm. It was a fun yet tiring day !
Thanks to everyone who made this trip fun and memorable.
